The 8ISS Proceedings are now available online! The printed publication, which were given inside the Welcome tote bags to each delegate in attendance, is a beautiful and hefty book. Huge congratulations to all our Presenters, Artists, and Instructors and certainly to Dr. Ameersing Luximon and the entire Proceedings & Publications Committee for a job well done on this publication. You can view and download the pdf files (free) on the 8ISS website.

On the heels of the closing of the 8th ISS, we are delighted to have some photos to share with you, dear readers. Congratulations to the curators, Jean Cacicedo and Jorie Johnson, and all exhibiting artists of the “ANIMAL FIBER: art informs shibori” exhibition held at the Hong Kong Design Institute.

Big thanks to Jean and HKDI for sharing their awesome photos with us. The night skyline shot with brightly lit “2011″ just pulses with a vibrancy and energy, no?! Sigh…Wish we could’ve all been there.

8ISS takes high marks

With the final two workshops finishing up on Jan 2, the 8th International Shibori Symposium in Hong Kong has officially come to a close. Built on a theme of “Technology Shaped by Creativity,” the 8ISS boasted 8 exhibitions of international and Chinese art in fiber, 8 workshops, a trunk show & info fair, and more than 95 papers presented/posted by outstanding speakers.

A reported 150 international artists, designers, educators and researchers participated in the event.

The publications of the 8ISS include the Symposium proceeding entitled, “Technology Shaped by Creativity,” and two design catalogues, “New Beat + Energy Nexus: International Shibori Design Collection” and “Animal Fibers: Art Informs Shibori”.

Co-Chairs Kinor Jiang and Yoshiko I Wada congratulate and thank the many organizers involved in the planning and execution of this landmark event. Read the entire note here

ISS “New Beat” student exhibition opens in Hong Kong

The “New Beat” international student concours is now open for viewing at the Fashion Gallery of Hong Kong PolyU. The installation looks great! Congratulations to all of the selected artists. Such high quality inspired work.
