Baraba will teach a flexible and sturdy open weave technique to make three fun projects in the class: an iPad stand, a small hanging basket and an unusual triangular form. The hexagonal structure can be manipulated into many shapes and over woven in materials of your choice to create stunning sculptures.  The materials list is available online at


About Barbara Shapiro

A weaver, dyer and basket maker, Barbara has shared her rich knowledge of historical and ethnic textiles and her broad technical experience at SF State University and around the U.S. Barbara’s dyed handwoven wall pieces and plaited or coiled baskets are exhibited internationally. Indigo dyeing is her specialty. Her artwork and writings on textile subjects are frequently published. She is a past board member of the Textile Society of America and the San Francisco Fine Arts Museums’ Textile Arts Council. Check Barbara’s profile in the WSN Member directory.
